How to use our metal calculator

Our pricing calculator can be used to calculate the real value of your gold, silver, platinum, Sovereigns, Britannia's and Krugerrand. We operate an honest and open pricing structure to help you understand the true value of your items.

Cash for gold websites and mail in services rely on you not knowing the true value of your items which means you will always get a lower price.

To value your items you need to know:

  • Purity (Carat/Karat) of your gold

  • Weight (use scales that weigh to within one-tenth of a gram if possible)

Genuine or Fake?

How do I know if my metals are genuine?

Most metals sold within the UK by law must carry a hallmark once they are over a certain weight (Hallmarking Act 1973). This is a guarantee that your item contains at least that amount of gold/silver/platinum.

Below is a table of the most commonly found Fineness Marks on jewellery, if you cant find a marking or can see different markings please call us and we can help you identify your metals.
